  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

Preparing the Cake:

Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch springform pan. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Set aside.

In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until fully incorporated. Add the vanilla and sour cream and mix until combined.

With the mixer running on low speed, add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Fold in the diced apples. Spread the batter into the prepared pan.

Making the Crumble Topping:

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, oats, brown sugar, salt and cinnamon. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender or two knives until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle the crumble topping over the cake batter in the pan.

Bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing and serving warm.
