Instructions
Preheat your oven to 180°C/160°C fan/gas mark 4. Grease four 20cm round cake tins and line with baking parchment.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar with an electric whisk until pale and fluffy. This will take several minutes.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift in the flour and baking powder, then add the vanilla extract and milk and beat together until smooth.
