Ingredients
For the cake:
- 1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cups granulated sugar
- 5 eggs
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cups eggnog
For the glaze:
- 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 3 tablespoons eggnog
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
To make the cake: Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 10” bundt pan. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon; set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture alternately with the eggnog, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Beat until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan.
Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
To make the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the confectioners’ sugar, eggnog, and nutmeg until smooth. Add more sugar or eggnog as needed to achieve desired glaze consistency. Drizzle over cooled cake.
