Ingredients

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease two 9-inch cake pans with butter and lightly dust with flour. Set aside.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
Using a handheld or stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the butter on high speed until smooth and creamy, about 1 minute. Add the sugar and beat on high speed for 2 minutes until creamy and combined. Scrape down the sides and up the bottom of the bowl with a rubber spatula as needed.
Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture. Beat on medium-high speed for 1 minute until combined and creamy. Scrape down the sides and up the bottom of the bowl as needed.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and beat on low speed until combined. With the mixer still running on low, add the buttermilk. Beat until combined. Scrape down the sides and up the bottom of the bowl as needed.
Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto cooling racks to cool completely before frosting.
